Description
The urban landscape is continuously changing. With details appearing and dissolving, Michael Mahne Lamb presents ‘the city’ as an abstract notion by playing with how we see and experience the streetscape.

Despite loyalty to his chosen medium of photography, Lamb seeks to subvert conventional expectations of its documentary role. Wellington has a tradition of street photographers. Lamb continues this as part of the next generation, taking the genre into new frontiers.

Michael Mahne Lamb (Ngāti Kahungunu) is based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington. After graduating in 2014 with a Bachelor of Design in photography from Massey University, he worked as an architectural photographer. In 2022 he became the first New Zealand artist to earn a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Hartford in Connecticut, where he won an Installation Award and two scholarships. At the end of 2022 he showed his thesis exhibition ‘Prototypes’ at Bartley & Company gallery in Wellington. He is also a Co-director of Bad News Books, a photobook publishing company founded by fellow Wellington photographer Harry Culy.
