Description
Christian Dimick (b. 1999) uses painting as a means of uncovering and expressing memories. Gestural marks are layered and built up over time. These marks are then wiped away and reapplied. Shapes and images are a response to memories of place, sensation, and people. Dimick explores painting not for its end result, or as a product, but as part of the painter’s everyday experience, as much as brushing one’s teeth. For Dimick painting is a way to be physically present and to take stock of simple sensory information.
Christian Dimick completed a Bachelor of Fine Art with honours at Massey University in 2021.
