Object Detail

Description
Gabby is an artist, educator, science communicator, Antarctic researcher and PhD candidate. She is interested in how water in all its forms moves and changes across the land and ocean. In October-November 2015 and 2016, O’Connor spent time researching sea-ice crystals while on the sea-ice in Antarctica with oceanographers from NIWA.

From 2017-2020 , Gabby is conducting PhD research focused around communicating risk around climate change through three large scale public art projects throughout NZ. Her most recent series of projects involve working with scientists and local communities to communicate the connections between art, science and climate, but also for everyone to participate in the making of a contemporary art work.
