Description
Robert Percy Moore (born Christchurch, 1881-1948) is considered to be New Zealand’s greatest panorama photographer. He travelled extensively through New Zealand and Australia during World War I, photographing homesteads, public events, royal visits, groups, and urban and rural scenery.
Moore’s earliest panoramic photographs date from 1919 when he had a studio in Sydney. From 1923 to 1931 he operated from his Manners Street, Wellington studio, specialising in panoramic photographs made with a full-rotating panoramic ‘cirkut’ camera. 2,489 of his panoramic negatives are held at the Alexander Turnbull Library. Wellington City Council also holds a small number of negatives of images of Wellington views and suburbs.
