Object Detail

Description
Trevor Moffitt is a South Island artist. As art critic Elva Bett has said 'his brush writes moral histories of the times that have furnished New Zealand with its heritage.' This painting is one of 24 in his Gold Miners series, drawing on the stories told by his goldminer grandfather. They are painted with strong, simple use of paint and the colours of Central Otago.

This work was bequeathed in 1974 to the Wellington Public Libraries by Mrs Margaret M Dunningham, a Wellington resident and former lecturer from Christchurch.
