Description
From a series titled "New Zealand 1990, Lithographs by 20 artists", produced by Muka Gallery in Auckland

Gavin Chilcott gained prominence in the 1980s as a New Image artist whose elegantly colourful and eclectic paintings referenced fabric patterns, Indian art, interior design and classicism, blurring distinctions of taste and ideologies.

Chilcott is a graduate of the School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland (Elam) and is represented in the Auckland Art Gallery collection. His first exhibition was at the Barry Lett Gallery, Auckland, in 1976 and since then he has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand and internationally.
