Description
This Pou, on the Eastern side of the Michael Fowler Centre entrance is carved from Totara specially felled for this building. It is named Te Pou Tauiwi. It was carved by Rimutaka Prison inmates in the early 1980's as part of their rehabilitation and under the guidance of a master carver from the Petone Technical Institute. The base is sunk 1.5 metres into concrete and it reaches up 8 metres high.
