Description
John Duthie was born in Aberdeen in Scotland in 1841 and was an ironmonger. He became mayor of Wellington in 1889. He was also chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board from 1887 to 1888 and of the Wanganui Harbour Board for a time. Later, he became a member of the Legislative Council.
